About us

BC Oleksandrivskyi is located in the Podilskyi district of Kyiv, in the quarter of the old streets of Podil: Sagaidachny (at that time Oleksandrivska), Borychevoy Uzvoz (former Triochsvyatitelska), Naberezhno-Khreshchatytska and Igorivskyi Lane (at that time Mykhailivskyi), from which another ancient street began street – Bratska, which was heading to the Bratsky Monastery, from which it got its name.

The five-story brick building in the classicism style, located on the red line of Igorivska Street, is the former Oleksandrivsk Craft School, built in 1845 according to an “exemplary” project in the estate of the wife of the provincial secretary, Kateryna Grigorieva. During its one-and-a-half-century history, the building changed its purpose; it was a private estate, a Jewish inn, a school of the 2nd Artillery Division, the Oleksandrovsky Craft School, a school for drivers, a secondary mechanical and technical 4th-grade school, and in Soviet times – PTU No. 3, which was reconstructed several times with extension and new decoration. The building is an example of a valuable historical building of Podol from the middle and end of the 19th century, and it is a newly discovered architectural monument.
